Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHCE)
At Stewart Fleming, we believe that Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) enables children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of the community.
At Stewart Fleming, we follow the Cambridgeshire Personal Development Programme produced by the Cambridgeshire PSHE Service. The scheme of work is fully planned and the programme focuses on four key themes. The themes are:
- Myself and my relationship
- Citizenship
- Economic Wellbeing
- Healthy and Safer Lifestyles
Children will have opportunities for discussion, role-play and time to reflect. The design of the PSHCE curriculum also teaches children how to make wise decisions.
Scooter Safety at Stewart Fleming!
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote health and safety at Stewart Fleming our Year 3 classes had the opportunity to take part in a scooter safety course. The children enjoyed learning how they can ride their scooters to and from school safely, practising what to do when they come across a driveway on a pavement and how to cross the road sensibly with their scooter.

School Travel Plan
Stewart Fleming has been awarded silver level for our travel plan!
At Stewart Fleming we aim to improve the safety and wellbeing of our pupils by encouraging active travel behaviour to improve the environment around the school. Some of the things we have done to achieve this include; health and safety days, road safety talks, scooter and bicycle safety courses and involvement of our Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) in running competitions in school to promote road safety.
JTA Training Day
We would like to introduce our new Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs), Soriyah and Finley.
Soriyah and Finley attended a JTA training day at Bromley Civic Centre where they learned about their role and how to promote road safety in our school. They successfully completed the course and were presented with certificates and badges from the Mayoress of Bromley.
In addition to this, Soriyah and Finley are working hard to organise competitions and events to promote road safety in and around our local area.
Educate and Celebrate
At Stewart Fleming, we believe that everyone deserves respect and consideration. That is why this year, we have worked towards achieving a bronze accreditation with Educate and Celebrate. It is important to us that our children are respectful and understanding of all within the community. Educate & Celebrate’ promotes inclusion and diversity, something that as a school we are extremely proud of. It focuses on ensuring every student in our school is a resilient, adaptable learner who celebrates and promotes their differences.
Kindness Award
We believe that kindness helps to enhance all of our children’s experience at school. That is why we choose to celebrate kindness in our weekly merit assemblies, celebrating the children who have gone above and beyond to show kindness to themselves and others. We believe that by celebrating and rewarding kindness, we are supporting our children’s relationships with their peers, their families and themselves.
