We hope you have a fantastic half term break. We have released a new school video.

We have had a very eventful week at Stewart Fleming this week with three different year groups going on trips across London. Year 1 ventured all the way to Wimbledon to go to the theatre and Year 3 and 5 went to the Science Museum! I met with the School Council this week to hear about their ideas for school improvement and we look forward to sharing more of their ideas over the next term.

Thank you to all the parents that supported their children to enter the Space Week Competition. Ms. Haynes will shortly be choosing the winners and these will be announced in the Celebration Assembly next week.

We are looking forward to celebrating Harvest Festival next week and would like to thank Max Eaton (Our Chair of Governors) in advance for agreeing to lead our assembly next Thursday. Please do keep bringing in your donations for the Harvest Festival until Wednesday next week.

Lost property has been an ongoing issue over this half term. We will continue to put out all lost property items, on dry days, until the end of term. Moving forward, lost property will be stored in a weather proof chest next to the bike store at the main entrance of the school building so you can access lost property throughout the week. We encourage you to name all items of uniform and we will endeavour to ensure that all named items are directly passed back to children. In addition, next half term there will be labelled Year Group crates in the playground for children to store their coats and water bottles during playtimes which should also reduce the amount of lost items.

This week we have started celebrating Black History Month (BHM) early as all year groups participated in dance or drumming workshops. We look forward to continuing to celebrate BHM in October through both assemblies and our Soft Start Mornings.

Additionally, next week is World Space Week and Ms. Hayes, our Science Lead, has shared a competition to create a poster about how we can live more sustainable lives. Please do encourage your children to engage and we will ensure we put these on display in the school.

Thank you to all the parents and carers that attended the Reading Workshop on Thursday evening - it was a real success and we will be running more of these sessions over the academic year.

Finally, I am sure you will join me and the rest of the staff team in wishing Ms. Attrup good luck as she is going to run the London Marathon on Sunday for the NSPCC. If any of our parent community would like to support by donating to this fantastic cause please do access the link below: http://www.justgiving.com/esther-attrup

Have a safe, happy and enjoyable weekend and I look forward to welcoming you back on Monday.

26.09.22 - Update

This week has been Democracy Week at Stewart Fleming Primary School and children have had the opportunity to complete an application form to be considered for a role in the School Council and Green Team. Miss Coss and I will read all the applications and successful candidates from each class will be announced next week. Additionally the Year 6 children have been campaigning to become Head Pupils and the election for this will take place next week. On behalf of all the staff we wish the Year 6 children putting themselves forward for this the best of luck!

Next week, Stewart Fleming will be participating in Jeans for Genes Week. In order to raise money for this incredibly worthy cause, we are asking children and adults to come to school wearing jeans with their own clothes on Friday 23rd September and to make a contribution of £1 (paid via Parent Pay)

Please do attend the PTA relaunch meeting on Friday 23rd September at 5:00pm if you have the time to support to get the PTA up and running at Stewart Fleming Primary School once again. I look forward to seeing you there!

Finally I would like to remind you that school will be closed on Monday 19th September 2022 in line with Bank Holiday to honour the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. School will open again as normal on Tuesday 20th September.
