English

In English this year, we have begun our new curriculum called CUSP which will help the children to grow their vocabularies while providing many opportunities for creative writing. This term, we will be reading Greta and the Giants and Pebble in My Pocket. Using those books as vehicles for written work, we will be writing poetry about emotions, non-chronological reports and first person narratives. We will be using a range of writing skills to bring those genres to life, including: descriptive language, formal tone, conjunctions, rhyme, alliteration, simile, expanded noun phrase and adverbials.

Maths

In Maths, we’ll be applying our knowledge to word problems, as well as understanding how to read statistical information. We will also be consolidating our understanding of money and change, as well as exploring geometry and understanding the properties of time.

History & Geography

For our Brain Waves topic, we will be learning all about the brain! We will be looking at how the brain works, how we best learn and the way exercise impacts our body. For our How Humans Work topic, we will be exploring the different parts of the body including our skeleton and our lungs and how they work.
