Welcome to Year 6

This term in year Six we will be following a unit of work on a theme that focuses on ‘Moving people’.

In Geography, we’ll be:

  • Using our personal goals to build our own refugee shelters
  • Empathising with refugees and how it might feel to have to flee our homes due to an emergency
  • Creating our own geographical survey to find out the travel and migration patterns of our friends and family
  • Exploring the different types of migration and the reasons why people migrate
  • Considering the push and pull factors behind migration
  • Finding out about the different climate zones around the world

In English our book this term is 'Ice Trap!' which focuses on the arduous journey or Sir Ernest Shackleton as he attempted to be the first man to cross the continent of Antarctica. We will be writing in the role of Shackleton and describing the beautiful scenery that can be found on the continent.
